The Caribbean is the place for relaxing, cocktails, sunsets, endless white beaches and the Dominican Republic did not disappoint.
I was recently lucky enough to travel to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, staying at the Impressive Resort and Spa. After a 10 hour flight I landed at the international airport in the centre of Punta Cana, my first impressions were that it was hot, very hot, and humid, very humid. At this point it was still early in the morning so wanted to get out the airport and to the hotel beach as soon as possible. We had pre – booked a taxi and it was there waiting for us, so getting out the airport went very smoothly.
The airport to the hotel was a 30 minute drive and we went through some small towns and villages along the way. With people lounging on hammocks and deck chairs in the front of their houses and drinking out of coconuts, the Caribbean culture I had read about began to unveil itself. The island isn’t regarded as one of the safest, so during the 2 week stay we had no plans to leave the resort. We would just chill, play all the sports the resort could offer and lap up the all inclusive bar.
The Caribbean is exactly as it’s described in books and on the TV, so it is definitely worth checking out.
